The Humboldt Bronco Alumni Association is pleased to report that in conjunction with the Season Home Opener of the Humboldt Broncos 2018-19 Season that the 1972-73 SAJHL Championship Humboldt Broncos hosted a 45 Year Reunion on September 11, 2018 in Humboldt. The 1972-73 Broncos finished the season behind the Prince Albert Raiders in the final standings but after taking out the Melville Millionaires in the first round they took out their nemesis to the north in the second round and then hoisted the SAJHL championship trophy in Humboldt taking out the Estevan Bruins in the championship final. The 1972-73 Broncos took on the Portage La Prairie Terriers in one of the most physical and violent junior hockey series ever. Consequently the Broncos withdrew from the series. The Broncos were lead by Terry “Doc” Henning as Coach, Lee Tost as Assistant Coach and the late Dr. Gerry Rooney as General Manager with of course the young, and always smiling Elgar Peterson. The HBAA welcomed the following team members back to Humboldt.
